In vitro fertilization, or the “test-tube baby” process (IVF), is the parent of all of today’s assisted reproductive technologies (ART). Formerly, IVF was the final hope for couples who had exhausted all other infertility treatments.
With over a decade of research and clinical application, IVF changed from a one-size-fits-all treatment to a menu of ART. After an infertility evaluation has been completed and if conventional therapies have failed, it is possible to tailor the advanced treatment to the particular needs of a couple to maximize success.
